Temple Heelis sponsors individual cricketer in latest community support
Announcing a second year’s sponsorship of Coniston Cricket Club, leading Lakeland law firm Temple Heelis this year is also sponsoring an individual player.
The player, Peter Dodd, is a Director of the firm and head of the firm’s Rural Land and Property department. He has played senior cricket in the Westmorland League since he was 13 years old and also ventured overseas to play, touring India and Barbados with the British Lawyers’ Cricket Team.

Commenting on the sponsorship announcement, Peter says: “Sponsorship of individual players is new this year, with each player able to have two sponsors. I’m passionate about sport and love playing cricket so I brought this idea to Temple Heelis and was delighted the firm agreed. I am pleased to be part of the first team, particularly as a wicketkeeper/batter, and I hope to be able to keep on playing for many more seasons, injuries permitting!”
Peter added: “I am always delighted when my colleague Richard Moore, also a director of Temple Heelis and Head of our Commercial Department, pulls on his Coniston jersey. Although not available every week, Richard plays occasional matches to help out when he can.”
Coniston Cricket Club play matches in the village in one of the most picturesque cricket grounds in the Lake District, where there is strong competition! The club plays in the Westmorland League and is one of the oldest clubs in the area. All sponsorship monies go towards match balls, umpire fees, ground works and club maintenance.

“Everyone has a role off the cricket pitch, too,” adds Peter “whether that is working on the grounds, running coaching sessions for juniors, organising fundraising events, designing and sourcing playing and training kit, running the bar on match days, and providing refreshments to players and visitors to the club.”
