Temple Heelis Launches Hospitality and Leisure Specialism
Leading Lakeland Lawyers, Temple Heelis, has announced the formation of a firm-wide Hospitality and Leisure specialism aimed at providing state-of-the-art legal advice to businesses and individuals involved in hotels, guest houses, B&Bs, cafes, restaurants, pubs and retail.
Immersed in the Lake District for over 200 years, Temple Heelis is one of the region’s top ranked law firms with a 40-strong team. With one of the UK’s highest concentrations of hospitality and leisure businesses, the Lake District has always been a magnet for holidaymakers and for a wide range of hospitality-related businesses. With record numbers of visitors in the past 2 years, the Lake District has witnessed further expansion as the staycation trend has continued. Temple Heelis’ clients range from small, simple and traditional hospitality businesses to some of the UK’s most revered establishments with ‘six star’ facilities, awards and accolades.
Commenting on the firm’s decision to launch its specialist services, Head of Commercial Property Lucy Benton says: “Temple Heelis has long been advising businesses of all shapes and sizes operating in the hospitality and leisure sector as well as investors and those attracted to the sector. It’s part of what we do in working with clients throughout the region. However, given the high concentration of businesses in this sector, we saw the opportunity to draw together all of the professionals in our firm who know the ins and outs of the sector so our clients receive exceptional legal advice and levels of service which match their own ‘customer experience’.”
Lucy continued: “There are very few legal issues and situations we haven’t encountered in the sector. We advise clients on all aspects of buying and selling businesses, landlord and tenant matters (such as leasing and exiting premises), employment and commercial issues (including contracts and occasional disputes) and private client plans (Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney). Our aim is to provide sector-specialist knowledge and clear, expert legal advice with a high degree of insight into the issues facing these types of businesses. Many of our expert team members are from families running hospitality or leisure businesses and we genuinely understand what it’s like to be in their shoes in the sector in this region.”
With over 40 million visitors to the Lake District each year, the region’s hospitality and tourism sector is one of the most significant in the UK and is worth over £3billion in income to hotels, guest houses and B&Bs, outdoor accommodation sites, pubs, cafes, restaurants, retail outlets, visitor attractions and leisure experiences. There is truly something for everyone and every taste and budget. Temple Heelis’ expertise goes well beyond the Lake District, though, and the firm acts for clients around England and Wales, including overseas clients extending their portfolio into the English market.
Expanding on the firm’s capability, Lucy adds: “Our work doesn’t just start and stop with our clients, though. We work hand-in-hand with other professionals, such as accountants, tax advisers, land agents, estate agents, banks and lenders, and IFAs to provide an outstanding service to all our clients. We invite anyone interested in working with us to view our website and the new Hospitality and Leisure sector pages and to contact me.”
Temple Heelis has offices in the Lake District’s “Golden Triangle” (Kendal, Windermere and Ambleside) and is ranked in the legal sectors three leading guides to the profession: Chambers and Partners, The Legal 500 and HNW Guide. The firm acts for business clients in all market sectors, and for a wide range of individual clients and families.
